Senior Operations role with an Innovative International Freight Forwarder


National Operations Manager International Supply Chain

Reporting to the MD, this role will lead the Australia and Phillipines Forwarding Operations team. 

The client is an international data driven supply chain company, operating for over 20 years and employing over 500 people cross the UK, Asia, Europe, and Australia incorporating air, ocean and land transportation and warehousing. They have been in operation in Australia since 2012.

The Australian Operations team is made up of 11 people in Brisbane, 4 in Melbourne and 4 in Manila. There is a close interface between this team and the customs team, customer management team and the 3PL operations team. As a whole this business employs a mix of international freight forwarders, classifiers and compilers and specialist supply chain professionals as well as people from a sourcing and procurement background.

About You

A combination of operational and technological expertise is essential to maximise outcomes through data-based decision making. You are skilled in reviewing the data to identify patterns and drive informed decisions. 

With a focus on customer relations and successful delivery, excellent customer experiences and outcomes are important to you. You’ll work collaboratively with your international and domestic colleagues to drive continuous improvement. 

It is a deadline-driven industry, requiring you to be adaptable and proactive whilst continuously investing in and engaging with the operations team. You are an excellent leader with advanced people management skills. Bringing order and a sense of calm to a team that is developing is critical. 


Full coaching support

This position comes with your own executive coach to support you in the first 12 months in the position. This means the coach will work with you to develop a business plan and provide external support as you settle into the role. 

Your coach will work with you on the choices you make and the challenges you encounter in those formative months. During this time you will work with your coach to evolve and develop your leadership style to give you the maximum support to succeed in this new position. 

Your coach is not a substitute for mentoring or in-house coaching from your manager. This is additional support and gives some insight into the desire of the business to invest in the team and to grow their capability.
