Mandated by the Australian Government you will be leading the charge in driving initiatives that build the capability of organisations to engage with Asian markets.
 
Our client is a dynamic not for profit organisation that has the unique mission of providing services that help Australian businesses develop their capability in Asia. Driven by their ongoing success they are now hiring a strategic business development manager to expand their NSW footprint.
 
As a part of a small highly professional team you will be responsible for positioning and selling a series of services such as Capability Development, Advisory and Insights, and Public Forums and Events.
 
To succeed you will need sound business consulting experience and be skilled in selling services to corporate organisations, government departments and industry groups.
 

You will be responsible for lead generation, driving sales, and managing client relationships for all service offerings including the Leaders Program, customised capability development programs, advisory and insights services, and sponsorships and partnerships.

Playing a role in the commercial success of Australian organisations with the Asian market will be a key motivator for the right person. The successful incumbent will be working with a small geographically dispersed team between Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

About You

To succeed in this position the incumbent will be accountable for securing $1million in annual sales per year. With an average sale being between $50K and $100K the incumbent will need to build and maintain a pipeline of prospects. Time management and pipeline management will be critical in forecasting future demand for services and the appropriate level resource planning to deliver the service.

As with all business development positions referrals and networking will be more effective in converting business. A key challenge for this position will be to be networking in the right circles, building a personal brand and building the brand of Asialink Business.

The successful incumbent will need to be a professional consultant who is able to understand the strategic objectives of their clients and the offering that will best meet their needs. This means the incumbent will need advanced communication skills, the ability to influence and problem solve and be an excellent networker.

Problem solving, creative solution selling and being able to see the relationships within the network are all challenges that this position must master as they bring businesses and networks together to solve challenges in doing business with Asia.
